The moving image is one of the most common forms of communication today¡ªembedded video is everywhere, and the creative potential to create new forms for the digital age is virtually limitless. Explore the production and technical elements of moving image creation.
In this focus area of the Creative Media major, you will explore the power of the moving image and sound in conjunction with other media as an artistic expression. With our Moving Image concentration, you will develop creative confidence and build a toolbox of technical skills that can be used in a variety of career settings. Through courses in this concentration, you can:
- Try out different film production roles, such as director, cinematographer, sound designer, editor, script writer, and actor.
- Acquire the technical skills and techniques to become adept at manipulating audio and video, including areas like how different cameras and lenses work, how to set up a shot, how a script is formed, how to light appropriately, how to create special effects, and how to create audio.
- Manipulate media so you can explore creating art with time-based media. For example, you might create an art installation that incorporates video.
- Create interactive web experiences incorporating moving images.
Courses in the Moving Image Concentration
All Creative Media students are required to select a Primary Area of Focus and a Complementary Area of Focus. Shown here is the curriculum for the 24-credit Primary Area of Focus. If you choose Moving Image as a 12-credit Complementary Area of Focus, requirements will differ from those shown.
