Health Savings Account (HSA)

Depending on your enrollment choices, you may also have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pair with your health insurance.

An HSA is an individual account with our vendor HealthEquity which has contributions added pre-tax through payroll deduction to spend on eligible expenses towards health, dental, and/or vision expenses. The HSA is only available to employees who have elected the Silver or Bronze HDHP medical plan.

You own the account and you control how money is spent. Unused funds rollover from year to year.

Employee contributions can be made with pre-tax dollars via payroll deduction and the College¡¯s contributions will be made to your account on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Group life insurance and compensation for accidental loss of life or limb is available to eligible faculty and staff. Coverage provided by the College is available for the employee at 1.5 times base salary to a maximum of $600,000 benefit. Eligible employees may also purchase additional voluntary coverage for themselves, as well as their spouse and children.

  • Short and long-term disability benefits are provided by the College as an income replacement benefit that pays a percentage of pre-disability earnings when employees are out of work on a disability claim.

    • If a claim is approved, short term disability benefits begin after you have been unable to work for 10 consecutive calendar days and may continue to a maximum of 26 weeks.
    • The short term disability plan pays a benefit of 66-2/3% base earnings replacement for those hired after 7/1/09, and 100% salary replacement for those hired before 7/1/09 for up to 26 weeks if Unum approves the claim.
    • These benefits are paid through payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
    • Long term disability benefits begin after 26 weeks (180 days) if a person is medically required to continue to be out of work and Unum approves.
