Description

Join the Anime Club to discuss and watch anime that students have voted on. Each week students put in their suggestions that correspond to a theme that members decide on each month. Other activities include trivia, karaoke, a jukebox, discussion on manga, and anime tier lists! Join us in our exploration of the Japanese animation and manga industry!

Blue Stool Talks

Description

The Blue Stool Project is a series of flash lectures given on the Champlain College campus, appearing in the central courtyard with a goal of addressing topics that might not normally come up in the classroom. This engaging, open conversation style of teaching/learning was conceived by Bob Selby and further refined during monthly occurrences.

Blue Stool talks are opportunities for Champlain College faculty and staff to share their passion for learning and ideas with students (and others) outside of the classroom. Students are encouraged to attend. The talks are meant to provoke thought, deepen understanding, and encourage listeners to reconsider ways of knowing. The topics may or may not be controversial in subject matter, but all aim to provide opportunities for listeners to learn.

Champlain College Dance Team

Description

The Champlain College Dance Team is a fun way for students to dance in college without the pressure of tryouts. We work on many fun and unique projects during the year and experiment with different dance styles. At the end of the year, there is an opportunity to perform at the annual Champlain College Dance Team (CCDT) Showcase, with original choreography from our members. We strive to have a positive and safe environment for everyone to be in their bodies comfortably while dancing.

Champlain College Esports: Splatoon

Description

CCE Splatoon is a part of the Champlain College Esports club. We compete in CCA (Collegiate Cephalopod Association), the largest collegiate Splatoon league in the US. We also host community outreach events for Splatoon and Non-Splatoon players.

Champlain Crochet

Description

Champlain Crochet is a space for people to de-stress and crochet in an easygoing but invigorating environment. Whether you’re an expert or know nothing about crochet, the club is a space for everyone to learn and support one another.

Bringing your own supplies is not required for participation, but is encouraged. We have yarn, crochet hooks, stitch markers, and yarn needles that club attendees can use.

Champlain Destiny

Description

The Champlain Destiny Club is an inclusive place for fans of the game “Destiny 2” to talk about and enjoy the game with fellow students. Greetings Loyal Imperial Citizen and welcome to the Champlain Wargaming Club! Our club is dedicated to all things tabletop wargaming, with a heavy focus on Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar. Crusades, painting nights, campaigns, skirmishes, and strategy theorycrafting are just a handful of the things we offer. Don’t have an army? Don’t know how to play? We have you covered! Chivomengro

Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Darkroom Photography Club

Description

The Darkroom Club offers the student body an accessible way to explore the increasingly rare medium of analog photography. This club will introduce students to our beloved darkroom and teach them how to shoot, develop, and print their own photographs. Description

The Design Club is a place for students from any major to connect with others who have an interest in graphic design. We’ll engage in group and individual project activities, peer review critiques on personal and academic projects, go on occasional trips to local design companies and art galleries, and invite industry professional guest speakers. Description

The Digital Forensics Association (DFA) is a dynamic student organization that meets biweekly. Open to students and faculty from all divisions, DFA offers an engaging platform to explore the intricacies of investigating, analyzing, and recovering digital evidence from electronic devices and digital systems. Los Dormant Volcanoes Improv Troupe

Description

We are Champlain College’s Improv Troupe! We hold auditions once per academic year near the start of the fall semester. Our style of improv performance is short-form comedy games. Troupe members are given prompts by the audience, and then we create hilarious scenes to watch and be a part of. We perform a few times a semester, so keep an eye out for our posters!

Description

Motion Magic is a student-run club that aims to create a dedicated and inviting space for animation majors to learn and grow together. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an expert animator, we’re open to students from any background. Our club is driven by a collective curiosity to explore the intricate artistry that makes horror movies so irresistibly captivating. Geared toward those with a penchant for the mysterious, the horrifying, and the thrilling, our aim is to dissect the essence of exceptional horror. We are a completely student-run theater club that produces a show each semester. The Crossover

Description

Written by students, for students.

The Crossover is a digital publication serving as the “Intersection of News, Arts, and Culture at Champlain College.” It provides an honest and independent view of Champlain’s campus and culture through an authentic and informative perspective by researching relevant issues and events while following open and transparent reporting practices.

Four main categories allow for a diverse platform of featured stories:

• News pieces include relevant happenings around campus—and sometimes at the national level—that provide critical information to the Champlain community.
• Feature pieces are human-interest stories with in-depth research and careful planning.
• Opinion pieces delve into the unique views of the students writing them.
• Culture pieces showcase the social atmosphere on campus, as well as the city of 足彩胜负14场, including reviews and advice columns.

The Crossover’s staff is made up of writers, section editors, copy editors, photographers, artists, a social media manager, and an editor-in-chief. If you want to join our team, or contribute a story, email champlaincrossover@gmail.com with your pitch or completed draft for feedback!

The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

The Well

Description

The Well is an evolving, collaborative publication produced by Champlain students enrolled in the Professional Writing Program’s Magazine Publishing course (WRT-215). Topics and themes vary each semester, as students take charge and mold each issue in accordance with their collective priorities and interests.

Students oversee every aspect of The Well, contributing to its written content, design, editing, and marketing. One issue is published each semester the course is offered.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is the oldest running student publication on campus. Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishes annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction each year. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.

Description

The Champlain College Women in CyberSecurity Club (WiCyS) creates an inclusive space for women to explore and excel in cybersecurity. As part of a national chapter, we offer networking and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals. Our events, such as ‘Ice Cream and Incident Response,’ resume nights, and ‘Troubleshooting Tricks and Treats,’ are both social and technical, providing members with valuable skills and connections. Description

The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. While the club mainly focuses on the experiences of students who are minorities in regard to gender (female-identifying and gender non-conforming), all students are welcome. Diverse experiences and perspectives are what our club is all about! Join us for a mix of community building and technical nights, where we invite guest speakers, talk about different technologies folks are interested in, and do hands-on educational activities and labs.

Description

Yarn for Good is a club where people can gather to knit and crochet, learn how to do so, and have the opportunity to donate to a local organization.
