Champlain College Esports

Description

Champlain Club/College Esports (CCE) is a student run club that looks to provide a space for gaming and esports for all Champlain students who are passionate about gaming culture. We look to push the limits of esports and engage all students in club events that are centered around social interaction, fun, and of course, gaming. Champlain College Esports: Splatoon

Description

CCE Splatoon is a part of the Champlain College Esports club. We compete in CCA (Collegiate Cephalopod Association), the largest collegiate Splatoon league in the US. We also host community outreach events for Splatoon and Non-Splatoon players.

Description

Champlain Crochet is a space for people to de-stress and crochet in an easygoing but invigorating environment. Whether you’re an expert or know nothing about crochet, the club is a space for everyone to learn and support one another.

Bringing your own supplies is not required for participation, but is encouraged. We have yarn, crochet hooks, stitch markers, and yarn needles that club attendees can use.

Champlain Outdoors

Description

The mission of our club is to foster a community of individuals who are eager to spend their time out in nature. Whether it be hiking across the rolling hills of Vermont’s Green Mountains in a sea of Fall colors, paddling through the lakes, creeks, and rivers of the New York Adirondacks, or gliding across the snow on one of many cross-country skiing trails, we are committed to getting you out there. Our trips vary in difficulty, ranging from casual day hikes simply meant for appreciating the beauty of the woods to strenuous treks that will be a true test of endurance and will. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to be a casual hiker or a rugged adventurer, there is something here for you.

Description

Champlain Ultimate Frisbee welcomes players of all skill levels to join weekly pick-up games. We’re happy to teach new players! Chicks On Sticks is a ski club at Champlain College composed of female-identifying and gender-non-conforming skiers and riders. Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Climb Champlain

Description

Rock Climbing is a great way to de-stress after long days of studying and schoolwork. It’s also a great way to stay fit, meet new people, and exercise problem solving. Climb Champlain brings students to and from local climbing gyms where students can be a part of a community that welcomes and supports everyone. Description

The Darkroom Club offers the student body an accessible way to explore the increasingly rare medium of analog photography. This club will introduce students to our beloved darkroom and teach them how to shoot, develop, and print their own photographs. We are Champlain College’s Improv Troupe! We hold auditions once per academic year near the start of the fall semester. Our style of improv performance is short-form comedy games. Ski & Ride

Description

Ski and Ride is an inclusive, community-building club for students interested in winter outdoor recreation. Our goal is to form a community in which people can learn to ski and ride in a safe and welcoming environment! Meet friends and form lasting memories with other Champlain students. We host events like general meetings, movie premieres, and shop nights. When the cold months bring snow, the club will transition to in-person, on-hill events, such as community ski days, learn-to-ski events, and our annual Rail Jam.

Our club is driven by a collective curiosity to explore the intricate artistry that makes horror movies so irresistibly captivating. Geared toward those with a penchant for the mysterious, the horrifying, and the thrilling, our aim is to dissect the essence of exceptional horror. We are a completely student-run theater club that produces a show each semester. The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 8:30-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is the oldest running student publication on campus. Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishes annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction each year. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.
