Be a digital pioneer. Bring the fullness of your human self to the study of emerging technology, including Artificial Intelligence, and make sure the digital future is humane as well as human.
Humans Needed for the Digital Future.
Today, our culture is encoded in ones and zeros. Whether you’re interested in data visualizations, digital publishing, media production, or cultural preservation, Digital Humanities at Champlain equips you with the tools needed to make sense of a cluttered digital landscape, and to make meaning out of digital chaos. Learn the skills machines can’t replace: leading with empathy, ethical decision-making, and more. You’ll get hands-on experience through real-world projects and build a broad knowledge base that prepares you for a career on day one.
What is Digital Humanities?
The field of Digital Humanities applies liberal arts skills to emerging technology: critical thinking, cultural awareness, communication in the digital world, and more. This interdisciplinary major prepares you for many careers, including in business, nonprofits, government, education, history, museum studies, and libraries. You’ll explore big data analysis, create virtual reality experiences, and tell stories through digital media.
This major emphasizes the connection between technical skill and human knowledge. It pairs skills such as coding, geospatial mapping techniques, data conversion, and data symbolization with disciplines like literature, history, language, philosophy, and more. Digital Humanities graduates become connectors and translators between fields, bridging the gap between technology and human understanding.
The future of work will involve collaboration between artificial intelligence, or AI, and humans. Digital Humanities prepares you for it by building your communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. As a Digital Humanities major, you’ll become a key link between data and human situations, leveraging technology to create meaningful connections and insights.
Digital Humanities helps you make a difference in the digital world while staying connected to the richness of human experience and knowledge.
