Why Minor in Actuarial Studies?

Actuarial Studies is a bridge between math and business, and Champlain¡¯s Actuarial Studies minor is not only designed to improve your skills in both, but is the only formal actuarial path in Vermont¡¯s higher education institutions. You will learn how to manage risks, liabilities, and estimate probabilities. It is designed to engage your critical thinking and pattern recognition skills.

These classes will supply you with the quantitative and technical skills needed to succeed as an actuary, and will prepare you to take the Society of Actuaries (SOA) exams in both Financial Mathematics and Probability. You’ll then be eligible to apply coursework to your record with SOA through the Validation by Educational Experience process, allowing you to start building your professional actuarial credentials early. This interdisciplinary minor is an ideal way to get an edge in your career.
